i5 DevBooth (I would use DevShed but its already gone)

I am not sure if any one is interested but I am thinking about setting up some kind of website where you can access i5 based tutorials. If any of you have ever gone to the DevShed website and used any of their tutorials you will understand why I think it would be a great idea for i5 specific content. I am constantly having to go through google searches just to find simple tutorials on how to achieve something. I did find a new site Krugle which has great source code search capabilities and you can filter the content. But it is just code snippets, I wanted to find a full tutorial on how to set up PHP or MYSQL , create a simple file reader or whatever else you can think of. Redbooks are a great way to find out how to use some of the technology but don’t address some of the simple tasks we need to carry out. Would you like to know how to encrypt data with new V5R4 API’s? How would you do it? Would you like to see some code which does that which you can find in one place? How do you map a file in C etc etc… thats what I want to supply.

I know there are a lot of people who have expressed an interest but I have never managed to get the resources in place to provide the site! If you are interested let me know, I need to asses the usefulness before I go out and spend the time and money setting it up. I will be looking for people to share their expertise as much as anything else so you have to be prepared to put in as well as draw from the experience of others.

I have not fully thought out the content and how it should be presented so if you have any suggestions I would be happy to hear from you. if you think its a waste of time thats also valuable input! if you are interested in being in from the ground up let me know, I am sure it will have an audience as long as the content is good and use able by others. Yes RPG can be part of the code sets despite my recent articles stating how we should promote other languages…

Chris…
