New Contributor for RPG Code

Terry Durbin has agreed to be a contributor to the blog and share his RPG knowledge with me and the rest of the i5 community. We have been corresponding for a number of months now either through the System iNetwork forums or privately through Email about how we have both approached the need to simple and cost effective data replication. I have regularly said and still do that RPG leaves a mark on the i5 which could keep new blood away because its seen as an old and proprietary language. I stopped RPG development soon after I started on the i5 and took up C programming, but I know there are a lot of RPG programmers out there who are still very dedicated to the platform. So I am hoping to start a process where Terry can develop RPG code to share and I will develop similar function in C and vice versa. We will also look at how to create ILE modules that can be called from either language providing the best of both languages.

If you would also like to contribute let us know. I hope to provide samples, tips etc in C, PHP, RPG CL etc…

  1. I am excited to be invited to participate here.
I don’t share Chris’ disdain for RPG. It has become quite powerful and easy to use.

It has an interesting and very informative sharing of ideas.
I am not sure what or how much we should bring the community up on what we have discussed so far.
